Wooly is a Malaysian Chinese dude working in the tech industry as some kind of consultant in Beijing, China. His family is also there with him, and coping with the crowds and polution that Beijing has to offer, the northern Chinese food and great prices at the wet market.
He adds, “Some may find it offensive that I distinguish myself by saying Malaysian Chinese instead of Malaysian only, but it is an important point to note. For I look like a local here, and thus is by and large treated like a local. The only problem is that I don’t speak Mandarin the way Mandarin is spoken here – which makes for sometimes frustrating, but at most times amusing situations.”
Wooly hopes to share those moments with his friends, relatives and of course you – the nothing-better-to-do casual Net surfer.
Wooly has been an avid photographer since his high-school days and has taken thousands of photos over the years – though lately it has been mostly photos of his family outings, “I realised that I have tons of digital photos but even my folks have not seen it because they don’t operate the PC well. So I hope by putting them up on a website, it will be more accessible to them and for all”.
He adds, “I chose not to use a free photo site like Flikr because I needed the flexibility to create and upload the photos quickly. Besides, with the prices of web hosting these days – having a vanity site of your own and all the freedom that comes with it is a lot better than putting up with the ads and restrictions from free sites”.
